Why you might consider working with me
Because I care about helping people to build understanding and awareness that can enable change. Our past does not have to define our present or our future. I hope to facilitate an experience where we can feel able to make free choices in the present, rather than feeling that these decisions are determined by ‘parts’ of us that are informed by past wounds.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
Carl Rogers
I specialise in supporting clients who have experienced trauma, both single incident traumas and attachment or developmental trauma, alongside other difficulties such as (but not limited to) bereavement, thoughts of ending your life, self-harming thoughts, depression, other mental health and physical diagnoses, anxiety and depression.
Therapy is a vital part of emotional wellbeing, both at times of difficulty, and also as part of maintaining positive emotional health.
As a Person Centred Counsellor, AI-EMDR and IFS therapist and Couples Counsellor, I work with children from 16 upwards, young people, adults and couples in a relational way, supporting them to work through various difficulties. The principles of Person Centred therapy guide me in working with empathy and compassion to support clients in processing their experiences and finding ways of managing difficult and overwhelming feelings.
I specialise in supporting neurodivergent clients, both self-identified and medically diagnosed, individually and in neurodiverse relationships.

My Qualifications
Following the achievement of a First Class Honours Degree in Pure and Applied Philosophy I completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Person Centred Counselling whilst experiencing first hand learning about motherhood, closely following this with a Post Graduate Certificate in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy 2014 at the University of Cumbria.
I completed my EMDR Parts 1-3 in 2018 before leaving my role in the NHS in a Children and Young People’s Service. I continued EMDR training with EMDR and Ego States work, Level 1 EMDR for Children and Adolescents and more recently EMDR Unleashed 1 and 2 (Attachment Informed EMDR AI-EMDR) which has increased my passion for attachment informed EMDR which also allows us to work with Intergenerational Trauma and Dreams.
Further training has incorporated a Certificate in Couples and Relationship Counselling and my Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision, extending the services that I am able to offer. Level 1 IFS training and ongoing Level 2 training, both stands alone and beautifully informs AI EMDR work, and allows us to work with trauma in gentle and respectful ways.
My previous experience since qualifying in 2014 was with CRUSE Bereavement Care, Cancer Help, Cancer Care, Primary and Further Education, the NHS and the Survivors Trust, which is where my interest in supporting people who have experienced trauma began to develop.
I am Enhanced DBS Checked, Vetted by Lancashire Constabulary and North Wales Constabulary as an Associate Therapist, and I offer sessions under the umbrella of Private Health Providers WPA, AXA and BUPA.
